Coquena Tannat 2019
“A Tannat that has some balance with berry and walnut character. Medium body and firm and silky tannins. Drink now.” James Suckling.
THE LEGEND OF COQUENA
A Pagan shepherd god and the protector of vicunas and guanacos of the northern native Argentinian tribes. Legend tells that when the herds are moving together, if you hear a whistle in the wind, it is Coquena the god guiding the herds to better
pastures. Whoever attempts to interrupt or hunt them will suffer the wrath of Coquena.
Marcos Etchart presents this Tannat fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts and a 5-day maceration with temperature control.
Bright and clear, with an intense colour and violet reflections. Intense, with a marked fruity (plums, cherries ) and a little spice. The palate repeats the fruity character, with good varietal typicality, firm ripe tannins, good acidity, and a long finish.
Pair It
Best served between 16° – 18° C, this Tannat is a perfect pair with Beef, Lamb, and Poultry.
Cellar It
The 2019 Coquena drinks well now but has a cellaring potential of 3-5 years.
