San Pedro de Yacochuya Michel Rolland 2016
Michel Rolland's long and intense Malbec
“Phenomenal balance and beauty with pepper, berry and hints of green Spanish cedar. Full-bodied but harmonious and intense. There's a finesse and polish to this. So long and intense. 100% Malbec. Drink now.” James Suckling.
San Pedro de Yacochuya is Argentina’s famous “treasure” of the domestic wine industry. The vineyard occupies a privileged nook in one of the world’s highest wine-growing regions. It is the gold cradle of two of the sublime red wines in the country: the San Pedro de Yacochuya Tinto with a touch of cabernet sauvignon, and the premium ‘Yacochuya’, plain, without adjectives but with the very signature of Michel Rolland. Located at 2,035 meters above sea level with limited rainfall the terroir is something unique and matchless.
Michel Rolland presents this Signature Malbec hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts. A 4-week maceration, and 18 months aging in French Oak.
Bright and clear, with an intense red colour and violet reflections. Intense aromas of marmalades and cooked red fruits. Its time in oak brings complexity and balance. The palate repeats the fruity character with great varietal typicality, spices, firm ripe tannins, good acidity, and long finish.
Pair It
Best served between 16° – 18° C, this Malbec is a perfect pair with Beef, Lamb, and Poultry.
Cellar It
The 2016 Michel Rolland drinks well now but has a cellaring potential of more than 10 years.
